What you need to know

Electricity

We have no electricity; all the appliances (stove, refrigerator, water-heater) run on propane gas. We suggest that you read carefully the note on
how to use the equipment in the cottages.

Quality of the water

The cottage's water is clean enough to be used to wash and rinse dishes and for showers, but is not drinkable.

"Little creatures"

We are very concerned about the cleanliness of our cottages, which we clean from top to bottom every time a group of clients leaves.

However, although out cottages are well insulated, they are built in the forest, the natural habitat of many nosy creatures… Therefore, you might get a visit from a field mouse. Do not be afraid, they are only interested in food and they will rapidly leave if they don't find something interesting.

Never leave food on the counter or the table; hide it in your in your coolers, in the refrigerator or in airtight containers. Even dry foods like rice or noodles could be nibbled at if left within their reach.

How to use the equipment in the cottages

All of the appliances run on propane gas. You must leave a window open at all time and make sure that the gas taps are shut when you leave the cottage.

There, you will find instructions on how to use the appliances. Be aware that the thermostat of a propane refrigerator is very fragile. In order to keep your food cool, we suggest that you keep your beer away from it. So bring a cooler in which you will keep your beer (with ice or Ice Packs that you will have brought), especially if you plan on partying for a few days. Also, be careful not to open the refrigerator's door often.

How to use the boats

The Canadian Coast Guard recommends these minimal precautions when you are on a boat:
  • · Buckle up your personal floating device (PFD - must be worn)
  • · Drive sober
  • · Look first (look for the buoys that indicate shallow water and floating objects like branches)
  • · Have all the necessary equipment (OBLIGATORY first aid kit - deposit required, given back at the end of your stay)
  • · Get trained (we will tell how to use the boat, the principal water safety rules and the geographic characteristics of the area where you will sail). Each passenger should know how to handle the motor and should steer the boat at least once.

Map and tourist zone

The topographical map of the territory is the 31P/11. We are located in zone 15 and in the 04-tourist region: Tourisme Mauricie-Bois-Francs.

Quotas, zone 15

Poaching

Poaching means even taking ONE fish over the permitted limit. Respecting nature and its wildlife, it's saving it for tomorrow.

Garbage

We care about the environment. Let's be aware that every can, every bottle, every piece of paper, every cigarette butt slowly deteriorates nature. We insist that all of our clients bring back their garbage to the designated areas, either at the check station or at the dump. We want to protect this beautiful territory and we need your collaboration.
