By road:

The Oscar & Farrar outfitters check station is located 58 km (36 mi) northwest of La Tuque, in the Mauricie region, at the junction of road 25 west and the Flamand River. Following this link, you can see and print the route of the trip.

Three blue signs of the Ministère des Transports indicate the route to follow to get to the Oscar & Farrar outfitters. You can use them as landmarks.

By road, follow the 155 north until the La Tuque exit (you will either turn right on St-François or on St-Joseph Street and left on Bostonnais Street). When you get to the fork (at the first blue sign), turn left to leave road 155. Keep left until the junction to road 25 west, 5 km (3 mi) further (2nd blue sign). Turn left on the 25 west. You will have to drive 53 km (33 mi) the major part being on an unpaved road.

To get the route from your home to La Tuque, you can go on the mapquest.com web site. But take the time to check before leaving, we have come across a few bizarre itineraries.

Note: The unpaved road is levelled often, which makes it one of the best in the Mauricie region. However, gravel being what it is, we can't recommend this road to new vehicles. We thank you for considering it.

By train:

You can also get to our outfitters by train (Montréal-Senneterre line), asking for the McTavis stop. You will get off at the train station and we'll come and get your by boat. Please note that it takes about 30 minutes to get from the train station to the check station by boat, and that an extra fee of 150 $ (return) will be added to your bill.
